This is a particularly high honor and one that he cherishes. He is dedicated to furthering the public's knowledge and interest in the Tribe, its art, its history, and its culture. He has garnered acclaim world wide, with exhibitions featured in 24 states, and induction into dozens of prestigious collections in China, Mexico and the US, including the National Museum of American Art at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

His art celebrates the strength of a people who meet the harsh realities of life in an uncompromising land and his work is a tribute to the Native Americans who survive by living in harmony with an adversarial, untamed environment. His artwork is inspired by places such as Canyon de Chelly, Spider Rock, Monument Valley, Enchanted Mesa, Acoma, and Black Mesa. These sites are part of an enduring landscape that speaks of the ancient heritage of a region that is now known as Arizona and New Mexico. Amado's artwork is defined by its bold color and form and dynamic composition Through. his art, he communicates his vision of a land, its people and their art. We are honored to have Mr. Peña as a featured artist, guest and friend. This will be the Closing Ceremony celebrating his Retrospective Art Exhibit featuring his works from 1970-1979. This will be your last chance to see these amazing pieces in person and speak with the artist himself.

There will be live music from 6-8pm by native New Mexican, Michael Tait Tafoya. Michael was born in Albuquerque and has lived in Santa Fe for 22 years. It’s there in Santa Fe, the birth place of his mother, that he began his journey into music. His focus is in Latin Fusion, World and Classical styles of guitar and singing. Michael's live performances are comprised of original works, music and lyrics, created by the artist himself. We look forward to having this very special guest at our event. He will be singing and playing guitar throughout the night. In addition, we will have another special guest performer, Isaiah Romero-Cordova, playing a special classical piece in honor our KUNM. Isaiah is a professional pianist and piano instructor with roots in classical music.
