Artist Bio:
The themes of my paintings come out of my experience as a psychoanalytically rained psychiatrist and from the memories of my life in Vienna, Austria, from the fairytales of my childhood, and from my experience as a European in America. Because of this background, I keep saying that I could paint from my memories for the next hundred years.
The strongest influence on my art comes from the Viennese School of Fantastic Realism (Ernst Fuchs, Hundertwasser, Hutter etc) from Gustav Klimt, Paul Klee, and from German Expressionism, but also from the contemporary American art world.
I am a latecomer to painting, but have made this up by being exceptionally productive, and by studying with some of the best painters in New Mexico.
I paint both figuratively and abstract; both in oil, mixed media, egg tempera, experiment with printmaking, drawing, collages, and encaustic work. One of my favorite techniques is egg tempera painting on wooden panels which requires much patience and love for it.
